Are they insured?

Does their price include moving of furniture and all cleaning solutions?

  • What type of method are the carpet cleaners going to use?

  • What machine are they going to use and is it theirs?

All business should have insurance that will cover them for any damage that they cause while carrying out their duties. It is important that your carpet cleaning technician is trained by a recognized organization as the right cleaning methods and solutions need to used to avoid damaging or over wetting the carpet.

All carpet cleaners should move (where possible) and replace your furniture when carrying out a job. It is advisable to get them to place a protective pad under the furniture legs.

If you are a residential customer then the Hot Water Extraction method (commonly called steam cleaning) is usually the best method of cleaning and maintaining your carpet. This is when they spray your carpet first with a cleaning solution and then spray hot pressurised clean water with a rinse agent through the carpet. At the same time the used water is being extracted out of the carpets by a high-powered portable or truck mounted machine leaving it almost dry.

It is important that the carpet cleaning machine is powerful enough to extract the majority of the water from the carpet. The machine should have at least a dual stage vacuum to maximize the suction and extraction of water. If you don’t rinse and extract the carpets properly then they will take a long time dry, may go moldy and a soapy residue may also be left on the carpet, which will just attract more dirt and soil onto your newly cleaned carpets.
